Choices for the 21st Century
Choices has many curriculum units, several of which address global issues. The unit "Help, Handout, or Hindrance: US Support for the Developing World" is available to ODW member schools for free from ODW headquarters. Please "contact us" for your copy using the link at the top of this page.
The Population Reference Bureau (PRB)
PRB has a couple of "lessons online" for grades 6-12. Over the years,
PRB has worked with educators to develop lessons that can be used to
teach about population trends and their implications. The following
lessons have been placed online for use in your classroom:

Development Education for Youth (DEFY)
DEFY is a development education organization in Ireland. They have many examples of lesson plans that help students learn and evaluate the differences between living in developed vs. developing nations. These materials can be easily adapted for use in your classroom. You can start at DEFY's homepage or go directly to their downloadable lesson plans.
World Wise Schools Lesson Plans
The global education lesson plans found on the following pages come
from the World Wise Schools' "Destination" series of study guides.
To help teachers integrate global education into daily activities, they
have been sorted by grade level and curricular area. Of special
interest to ODW are the "Learning About Ourselves and Others" lesson
plans.
The National Peace Essay Contest
The National Peace Essay Contest is a scholarship competition and
curriculum resource at the high school level that provides thousands
of dollars for talented high school students, as well as topics for
integration into existing curricula. The deadline for the 1999-2000
contest is January 26, 2000.
United States Institute of Peace (USIP)
USIP has several downloadable curriculum materials on international
conflict and its causes.
State Department Digital Diplomacy
Includes facts and information on countries around the world and is
specially designed curricula at the Geographic Learning Site.
